Tweed jackets with long sleeve button up shirt, vest and plus fours are not just for the lads! Add a feminine twist with some pearls or a brooch!
Tips: Twin sets look lovely when worn with a skirt or plus fours and add a softness to the Tweed look.

Try a suit jacket or sports coat in tweed or wool. A long sleeve button up shirt will keep you looking sharp when paired with a tie, a bow tie or for the very sartorial a cravat.
Tips: You probably have a few of these items already lying around the house. Add a quick trip to your local op shop - and you have a rocking outfit for next to nix!

Add to your ensemble with a vest be it knitted or tweed. Then don a pair of plus fours with knee high socks and some dress shoes to finish your dapper look.
Tips: Plus fours can be made out of any suit pant by tucking them into your knee high socks or come along to the pop up shop and have them converted.

Tweed and wool skirts look very elegant and a few pleats or flared panels allow for ease of movement while riding too! A kilt works really well as well.
Tips: A tweed or wool cycling cape will not only look very glamorous they keep you warm as well!

With a 'best dressed couple' award up for grabs on the day of the ride, it's important that your outfits get along as well as the two of you do.
Tips: Little touches of coordinated detail can go a long way to making the perfect couple's ensemble. Matching socks or Tweed Boutonniere for that fabulous flourish!

The Tweed Ride (otherwise known as a Tweed Run) is a group bicycle ride around Sydney, in which the cyclists are encouraged to dress in traditional British cycling attire, particularly tweed plus four suits. Any bicycle is acceptable on the Tweed Ride, but classic vintage bicycles get extra points. Most importantly, it's about recreating the spirit of a bygone era and having a lot of fun in the process!
The Tweed Ride starts at Sydney Town Hall on Sunday, 31st July 2011. Registration is from 8am until 9am. The ride will then lead promptly at 9. There will be coffee and tea available between 8am and 9am around the corner from Town Hall at Klink cafe (281 Clarence St) - and we'll be on hand to show you the way. You can also get last minute mechanical assistance with your bike at MC Cyclery, located at 230 Clarence St (click here for a map).
Yes, you do. It is a legal requirement to wear an approved helmet at all times while riding a bicycle in NSW. If you do not have a standards-approved helmet, you will not be able to join us on the ride - no exceptions.
Anywhere! Your local op shop is a great place to start, or, for someting a little more special, check out out Rocket Fuel. Our Tweed pop-up shop is open for the week leading up to the event (including Saturday 30th July - the day before) and has loads of great last-minute tweed ideas from Rocket Fuel, Brooks, MC and more.
From Wikipedia: Plus fours are breeches or trousers that extend 4 inches (10 cm) below the knee (and thus four inches longer than traditional knickerbockers, hence the name). As they allow more freedom of movement than knickerbockers, they have been traditionally associated with sporting attire from the 1860s and onward, and are particularly associated with golf.
Less known are plus twos, plus sixes and plus-eights, of similar definitions.

Bring yourself, your helmet, a road worthy bicycle a smashing Tweed outfit and a good sense of fun. A picnic for the post ride festivities might be nice too (you can even win a prize for the best dressed picnic blanket).
Registration is from 8am with the ride starting promptly at 9am. We then have a leisurely ride through the streets of Sydney stopping for photos before arriving at our end point. The ride pace is slow and takes approximately 90 minutes including all stops.
No, there is no cost to join the ride!
Yes! There will be a gold coin donation BBQ (featuring fabulous local sausages) and some great biscuits from the Sydney Biscuit Company for you to sample.
Children are most welcome, however all children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Beep.
